Passengers step off at Harbour Point Village, a 15-minute walk from Philipsburg, and catamaran snorkel days from Bobby's Marina cost $129 to $139. The busy dry season runs early December to mid-April.
Put in your ship's arrival and all-aboard times from your cruise planner. Each tour is checked against the time you have, minus the buffer you choose for getting off the ship and back to the pier.
Example times are filled in. Your cruise line's daily planner has the real ones, and a tender port needs more buffer.

Ships tie up at the Dr. A.C. Wathey Cruise & Cargo Facility in Philipsburg. The St. Maarten Tourist Bureau puts the original pier at 545 m and Pier 2, opened in 2009 by the Harbour Group of Companies, at 445 m. Pier 2 can take two ships of more than 220,000 gross tons at once, and its two passenger screening booths speed people ashore. Cruise Critic reports that on busy days some passengers tender instead to Little Pier in central Philipsburg.
Passengers come ashore through Harbour Point Village, built in the style of Philipsburg's old architecture, with duty-free shops, market stalls, bars and an information center. Most tour, bus and cab pickups start there, and about 100 taxis wait at the terminal. Port St. Maarten puts the walk into Philipsburg at 15 minutes. Water taxis stop at Captain Hodge Wharf, Walter Williams Jetty and Bobby's Marina; the tourist bureau lists a $6 one-day pass with unlimited rides, while Cruise Hive reported $7 in September 2026.
Taxi fares are set by the government, zone to zone, and quoted in US dollars. From the cruise port, one or two passengers pay $25 in total to Maho Beach, Mullet Bay or the airport, and $20 to Simpson Bay. Groups of three to five pay per person instead, for example $9 each to Maho Beach. Sail the Phoenix and Eagle Tours both board at Bobby's Marina, which Eagle Tours puts about 15 minutes' walk from the ship. Rhino Safari Excursions is at 58 Welfare Road in Simpson Bay.
Philipsburg keeps Atlantic Standard Time, UTC minus 4. From the first Sunday in November to the second Sunday in March, when Florida is on Eastern Standard Time, the island runs an hour ahead of the main Florida home ports. Port St. Maarten publishes ship calls on an online schedule, searchable by year and month, that shows the pier for each vessel.
Sail the Phoenix checks guests in from 9:30 to 9:45 am at the gazebo in front of Aziana's Restaurant at Bobby's Marina and sails from 10 am to 3 pm. Eagle Tours also starts at 10 am, with a 9:30 am check-in, and returns around 4 pm. Sail the Phoenix gives a full refund if the ship is late or does not arrive. Neither company states a back-to-ship guarantee.
Rainforest Adventures' park at Rockland Estate is open from 11 am to 4 pm. The Flying Dutchman takes 1.5 to 3 hours, longer in peak season, including a safety briefing and a 25-minute chairlift ride. It states no cruise pickup. Rhino Safari's 2.5-hour trip starts in Simpson Bay, a $20 taxi ride from the cruise port for one or two passengers.
Catamaran days fill most of a port call. Sail the Phoenix's 5-hour Luxury Day Sail costs $139 per adult and $115 for children 5 to 12, with under-4s free. It includes a guided snorkel at Little Bay, a swim stop at Mullet Bay, a sail past Maho Beach, an open bar and a cooked lunch. Eagle Tours' 6-hour Tropical Sailing, Beach & Snorkel Tour starts at $129 with a buffet lunch and open bar, though its page shows a currently unavailable notice.
Rainforest Adventures' Flying Dutchman zip line on Sentry Hill costs $109 per adult and $94 for children 3 to 12 and seniors 65 and over. The price includes the Sky Explorer chairlift and entry to the Emilio Wilson Museum. Riders must be 52 to 80 inches tall and weigh 100 to 275 lbs. The chairlift alone is $59, and a Sentry Hill zip and schooner ride package is $109.
Rhino Safari Excursions puts guests at the controls of their own small inflatable boat, following a guide, on a 2.5-hour trip with a snorkel stop at Creole Rock in the French side's marine park. It also runs a 2-hour trip to the beach at Happy Bay, and its site lists no prices. Carnival's own Ultimate Snorkel & Beach Escape is $108.99 per adult and $87.99 per child for 3.5 hours, with a minimum age of 6.
Sail the Phoenix is the only one of the four that states a refund for ship problems: money back in full if the cruise ship is late or does not arrive. It also refunds in full for cancellations 24 hours or more ahead, and weather or safety cancellations by the captain are refunded automatically. Shared sails take up to 38 guests, and private charters are available.
Eagle Tours runs several catamarans, including Tropical Time, Magic Time, Too Rhum Punch and Quality Time, and also sails to Anguilla, Prickly Pear and St. Barth's. Its tour page gives no cancellation policy, and some of its pages still carry a banner about covid regulations, so confirm availability directly before booking.
Rainforest Adventures refunds cancellations made at least 2 days ahead, minus a 10% fee, and allows one free date change. It requires closed-toe shoes and advertises a 15% online code. Rhino Safari's site gives no prices, inclusions or booking method, and its Simpson Bay base is a taxi ride from the Philipsburg pier.
